Virtuoso Indian Violinist Milind Raikar on 3/1/25

Renowned violinist Pandit Milind Raikar (www.milindraikar.com) will perform an evening of Indian classical music at the Water Sines Studio, in the Pioneer Square district of Seattle. An internationally renowned musician from a deeply musical family in Goa India, Raikar is known for his melodious & soulful style of playing the violin in the Hindustani style.

He established “Raikar Academy of Violin Pt, D. K. Datar Parampara” in the year 2006 to preserve & promote Hindustani Music on violin especially to propagate ‘gayaki’ style of playing.

He will be accompanied by tabla player Manoj Deshpande, and his colleague Amy Denio (Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame) will play a raag or two with him on alto saxophone. Raikar met Denio when she studied Hindustani singing in Mumbai India in 1997; over the years they have developed a deep musical rapport.

This special concert is open to all ages, and donations will be accepted at the door.

Varieté now on Bandcamp!

Stream or download my soundtrack to the classic silent film Varieté (Germany, 1925)! Commissioned by Seattle Theater Group, my 12-piece orchestra premiered the soundscore at the Paramount Theater during the snowpocalypse of 2019.

We received a standing ovation and glowing accolades at the premiere, but I missed the chance to get a good recording. Thanks to our Executive Producer, Britton Vincent, I was able to produce the recording in August at Studio Litho with engineer Floyd Reitsma. Steve Turnidge mastered the recording.

AD Live at Lounge Ax, Chicago IL 1992

Ladies and Gentlemen! Spoot Music is proud to present Amy Denio Live at Lounge Ax, 1992.

Anyone else remember 1992?

Back in the Dark Ages before the Internaught, I played a solo concert at Lounge Ax Chicago. Thanks to Matt Kolata, this slew of my rather strange songs for accordion, bass, saxophone and voice has found the light of day.

Though not perfect, it’s a fantastic testament to the times in which we lived… Clinton had just beaten Bush Sr. in the national election, and I was on a Knitting Factory tour opening up for Negativland.

Enjoy!
